Many have remarked that my floral paintings resemble hearts, and although I never intended that initially, I guess that came from somewhere within. Having a platform to express my emotions on a subconscious level is one of the things I love most about painting.

I was inspired by the lyrics of U2 (who isn't?) and the lyrics from "Beautiful Day" were really speaking to me through this little painting.
The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground

See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out
I will always think of the Saints return to the Superdome when I hear that song. It was the first beautiful day we had in a year. That night wouldn't have been the same without U2.
